Plains Midstream Canada Selects KMI to Drive Commitment to Environment Health and Safety
Calgary, AB and Oakville, ON, September 18, 2012: KMI announced today that it has been chosen by Plains Midstream Canada ULC (Plains), a midstream crude oil and Liquefied Petroleum Gases (LPG) company and a wholly owned subsidiary of Plains All American Pipeline, L.P (NYSE:PAA) to implement the KMI EHS Software Suite across its operations for Incident Management and Audit & Inspection. Plains operate in more than forty U.S. states and six Canadian provinces with over 1,200 employees.
On the heels of its recent acquisition of BP’s Canadian natural gas liquids business in April 2012, which significantly expanded its LPG footprint in Canada, Plains was seeking a web-based EHS solution that was scalable with their organization’s expansion. “Our existing system was Excel-based and limited in its capacity to support our growth,” said Paul Kelly, Director, EH& S, Land & Regulatory. “We needed an industry-proven solution that was simple to use but highly effective. The KMI team instilled a sense of confidence in their ability to meet our business requirements ‘out of the box’. Their reputation in the Oil & Gas industry reassured us that we were in the best possible hands for quickly implementing a truly effective system.”
“We are delighted to welcome Plains Midstream to our Oil & Gas industry user community,” said Matt Airhart, President & CEO, KMI. “No matter how deep we get in the industry, there is always more to learn so we treat every new client as an opportunity for two-way sharing of best practices. Our team has always been committed to exceeding expectations and we look forward to a successful long-term partnership with Plains Midstream”.
