KMI Releases New Sustainability Module for Corporate Sustainability and GHG Reporting
After almost a year of design and development, KMI has released Sustainability, the latest addition to its best-in-class EHS Software Suite. The new Sustainability Software Module acts as both a stand-alone system for capturing enterprise-wide Greenhouse Gas (GHG), Energy Usage, Water, Waste and other key performance indicators and is also leveraged by the rest of the KMI EHS Software Suite to provide hard data for Compliance and Reporting & Dashboards.
One of the key challenges in the design of this new module was the requirement to adhere to KMI’s number one principle – keep it simple for the end user. In this case, designing the capabilities to configure consumption and emissions for an unlimited number of sources, output streams and facilities, allowing corporate standardization and control, providing flexibility for facility level emissions definitions and complying with such standards as EPA GHG and WRI reporting; all while making the end user experience intuitive and simple was a significant design challenge. However, based on the response from KMI’s core super user community, our designers succeeded in doing just that. The Sustainability software module is a feature rich, flexible and extremely powerful tool for both GHG reporting and corporate sustainability management but is it is easy to configure and easy to use.
Some of the capabilities of the new Sustainability software module include:
- Default configuration of common EPA GHG reporting emissions sources and factors
- Ability for users to define their own Key Performance Indicators (KPI), Sustainability Metrics or any other data point which is important to the organization
- Corporate definition of minimum reporting frequency with notifications for missing data
- User defined data entry help text on a per-metric basis
- Support for facility overrides on corporate defined factors
- Ability to set up unique programs for different regions or facilities while maintaining corporate standardization.
Additional capabilities which are scheduled for upcoming releases include:
- Cost, Risk and Scenario Analysis
- Objectives & Action Plans
- Project Definition and Management
- Life Cycle Assessment
The Sustainability software module is currently being rolled out to existing subscribers within the KMI EHS Software user base. The system is available immediately for demonstrations or pilots and may be implanted along with any or all of the existing KMI EHS Software modules including Incident Management, Compliance, Audit & Inspection, Corrective Action and Reporting & Dashboards in as little as four to six weeks for new subscribers.
