| As part of a continuing strategy to leverage best practices on an enterprise-wide level, Oldcastle Materials has selected Knowledge Management Innovations’ (KMI) MinePro Training Planner software for managing corporate wide safety training. The MinePro Training Planner is the only comprehensive solution for meeting and exceeding the Mine Safety and Health Administration’s (MSHA) CFR Part 46 safety training regulation. The system is designed to reduce the high volume of paperwork typically generated for Part 46 compliance, to significantly reduce time spent on records management, and to increase regulatory compliance. The implementation of the Training Planner demonstrates Oldcastle Materials’ progressive commitment to health and safety, and the improvement of data management and reporting.
According to Stephen Benton, Director of Safety, Health and Risk Management for Oldcastle’s Callanan Industries, Inc. and Co-Chairman of the Oldcastle Materials Group Safety Best Practices Committee, “We selected KMI and the Training Planner for two main reasons; the ability of the system to reduce the amount of time and effort our companies spend on Part 46 documentation compliance, and the potential to ensure that all employees have met or exceeded the training requirements.”
The system is scheduled to be deployed at over 200 Oldcastle Materials sites in January of 2004.
Oldcastle Materials is an integrated construction materials group with approximately 15,000 employees in 27 states, and annual sales of $3.2B. Headquartered in Washington, D.C., the Group produces aggregates, asphalt, and ready mix concrete. Oldcastle Materials, Inc. is one of four worldwide divisions of CRH plc, the international building materials group.
KMI provides high value software solutions that allow companies to control environmental impact, increase regulatory compliance, operate more safely and efficiently, and reduce corporate risk. KMI provides EHS management information systems (EMIS) consulting and implementation services for the mining and aggregates, chemical manufacturing and aerospace industries. These systems address specific company concerns at a reasonable cost and provide an easily justifiable return on investment.
