May 1, 2003 - International Specialty Products (ISP) contracts KMI to build corporate-wide environmental Audit Tracking and Compliance Management systems
ISP has retained Knowledge Management, Inc. (KMI) to design and implement corporate-wide environmental Audit Tracking and Compliance Management systems. Both systems are being integrated with existing Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) tools that KMI has developed for ISP as part of a comprehensive EHS Portal.

Together with the Issues Tracking & Management System (ITMS) and Management of Change (MOC) tools built previously by KMI, these systems will help ISP achieve a greater level of commitment to addressing environmental, health and safety issues and improving data management and reporting. Implementation of these systems will also further ISP’s progress as the company continues to model its environmental policies and procedures on the Responsible Care® 14001 EH&S Standards. ISP has recently introduced sixteen new policies to its Environmental Management System (EMS), ranging from Audit Management to Incident & Spill Management procedures. The Audit Tracking and Compliance Management systems fulfill some of the specific requirements developed within these proactive policies.

“We are pleased to once again be working with KMI to build and implement our Audit Tracking and Compliance Management systems,” said Walter Galacki, Environmental Director at ISP. “These systems represent an important step in achieving an industry-leading Environmental Management System.”

The project will be conducted in several stages to achieve a high level of collaboration between ISP and KMI and ensure the application addresses all of ISP’s needs. The initial prototype development stage is already complete and by July 2003 both systems will be implemented across all participating ISP plants. Corporate and internal plant-level auditors will have access to the new system for all environmental audits and corrective actions immediately thereafter. ISP’s health & safety audits are expected to be rolled into the Audit Tracking system next year.

ISP, a leading global supplier of specialty chemicals and performance enhancing products for a wide variety of personal care, pharmaceutical, food, beverage and industrial applications, is committed to taking active steps to improve its processes and reduce its environmental impacts.

KMI builds and implements high value software that allows companies to control environmental impact, increase regulatory compliance, operate more safely and efficiently, and reduce corporate risk. These applications address specific company concerns at a reasonable cost and provide an easily justifiable return on investment.
